the purpose of the remote solenoid is to provide maximum battery voltage to the starter solenoid because of the resistance of the wiring in the solenoid due to the heat soak. To determine if this will work, the next time you get heat soak try jumping the large cable from the battery to the solenoid to the S terminal on the solenoid where the purple wire connects. If the starter spins then the remote solenoid will work. If it doesn't then it's not going to help. Use safety precautions as it will start in gear.
Here is the best wiring setup for the remote solenoid IMO. The jumper to the S terminal can be a flat plate like the second picture or you can use a short 10 gauge wire. I understand that a mini starter will work as well.
