How fanatical are you about your bed wood?

I have really nice looking oak bed wood with the polished stainless strips and I'm afraid to get it wet. I don't want to wash the truck or let it get rained on. I don't want to haul anything either, especially my dogs. My wife is pissed because I won't use the truck "as a truck". That stuff cost too much money to go mess in' it up.

What's the consensus here? How does everyone deal with cleaning the truck?

Am I just weird?
