Line-X Estimate Too High?
Just called the local Line-X shop for an estimate to spray Line-X on just the four inside bed panels and the tops of them on my 76 C10 Stepside short bed with wood bed.
The first price they quoted me was $800! They assumed the bed would have require extra masking (how long could that possibly take?). I explained that it's a wood bed truck, and that the old bed has been removed, and I will be installing Trex decking AFTER the bed is sprayed. Said I will gladly mask off the undercarriage myself using cardboard or whatever, and that a little overspray on the undercarriage is not a problem anyway. The new estimate (to do just the sides and tops, no floor, no need to mask the bottom) was $699! From reading old posts around the Web, I was under the impression that the price would be more in the $200-400 range. Anybody out there had this done RECENTLY, especially a case like mine? How much did it cost? Opinions on the quote? If I can't get it done a lot cheaper, I'll either do a DIY bed liner (yeah, I know, they suck) or just paint it (probably Blitz Black). I plan to paint the truck Blitz Black later, thought the textured bed liner would be a nice accent. BTW, I'm also installing unpolished stainless bed strips and a new rear bumper. My goal is to make the truck look more presentable, not turn it into a show piece. Ideas and opinions welcome! |
