Changing Pinion Angle

I have fought pinion angle changes on other cars Ive built.

My question is-- how much change have you noticed(on pinion angle) and how thick of a shim have you used on a 3" to 4" rear drop on the coil spring trucks. Is it easier to fab. your own spacers or do the aftermarket spacers work?
I see alot of discussion on suspension drops but not much said about adjusting the pinion angle.
