When your hard on the throttle the pinion and axle and leafs "wrap up" meaning the litteraly move up some causing the rear of the spring pad on a flipped axle to force down on the u bracket and bend it if you notice in my pics the rear of the brackets were what bent. I think if the leaf flexed it would force the u bracket out and away from the axle tube as the leaf straightens and it would do so evenly to both sides Posted via Mobile Device
