I want to ad the side trim but...

I need to know a few things. Does the spacing of the holes for the clips matter? Also I need to know how many holes to drill in each panel. The line to drill is easy enough. My plan is to take the bed off next spring and take it apart for powder coating, undercoating and line-x. Then new wood and strips, body work and flat black. then put the bed on install the trim and paint in between the trim pieces. I really dont have the space to do the whole truck all at once so I figure one section at a time will work. lol I'm also thinking of making the lower part of the trim shorter so it ends on the bed side just to make it different. Any photo shop gurus out there that could whip up that pic? Flat black short bed shortened trim with lime green paint in between the trim pieces and on the wheels.
