Title question

I know that there were title irregularities with GM cars in the 50's, but was it still happening to the trucks in the late 60's? My Ohio title says 1968 GMC truck and we always called it a 1968 GMC because it is, but looking at the title today using a vin decoder, it doesn't play out like the decoder says. First, the original title is at home in the safe and I have the duplicate title that was issued to me when I got the truck from my Mom. The Duplicate title does have an error on it ( an extra digit "0") when compared to the door tag, but even given that as a clerical error, the VIN shows a 0 for the year, not an 8.
