NV4500 swap question....

So, I know this isn't unfamiliar territory with a lot of you guys around here so I thought I would ask some questions.

I want to end up with a 5spd tranny in my truck eventually and just want to know the easiest way to do this. Through the poking around I have done I have found that an NV4500 can be swapped in place of sm465 and only be about a 1/2" longer. Anyway I have an original 69 350, sm465, and np205 t-case that I will be using in my truck, so what if any modifications need to be made to make the NV4500 work, and is it a solid transmission? I really have very little experience with it. It will be going on a 71 4x4 frame if that matters at all.
I would also be open to purchasing a trans that has the same specs as far as dimensions go as a sm465 but from a custom driveline place or such that could provide the overdrive gear, if that makes sense.

Thanks a lot,
Jr
