new guy with an 86 crew cab dually with a cummins

Jsut as it says. I have been lurking here for a long time. Looking at pics and seein the BS. Thought I might as well post up since mine is finally starting to look like somthing. here goes.

Bought this beat up CC dually for $1500. A/C, power windows, hydroboost, 454 dual exhasut power locks. But it had a blown trans. Got one from craigslist for $150. Turbo 400. Got it running and driving and swapped out the front captian's swivel seats for a bench. (I have 6 kids. The buckets just weren't going to cut it.)

Drove it like that for a long time. Started to get fed up with the crappy carpet covered door panels and all the " cowboy limo " **** it had all over it so I started removing interior panels and replacing them with plastic ones painting them black as we installed them.

Fast forward a few months of just driving it. Got my taxes in. Then all hell broke loose. The radiator blew, front tires were going bald, front brakes went and the front suspension was in bad shape ball joints shot, bushings wiped out, sloppy steering... you get the idea. So I ordered up a new rad and installed 2 electric fans on it. So now she gets 1100 cfm of push across it when needed. With the then 454 she had, she ran hot as hell all of the time. 200-215. This always had me pissed. I had bought the truck to use as a shop truck. Hauling cars back and forth for my hot rod shop I run. Turns out, she had a hell of a vaccum leak I found one day while washing the motor to cool it down. Further investigation revealed an intake gasket leak. Bad one too. Already frustrated with the ****ty gas mileage, I decide that maybe an intake upgrade would help out. So I upgraded the intake to an edelbrok 4 barrel with an edelbrock 4 barrel carb, and then turned my attention to the ignition system using all MSD products there. Coil included. Then I found out after getting it running again, that the intake leak had actually cracked an intake valve as the leak down test revealed. At that point I decided to hold off on it since I had to keep it on the road for the time being. Next up was the brakes and ****. I was already in there so I ordered up a set of BellTech 3 inch drop spindles for the front and a shackle and perch kit for the rear. Replaced all the brakes up front with new calipers, pads, rotors and bearings. Even hoses. Then set up the rear. Got it all dropped down. Was much happier with it then! Changed to white face guages with blacklight backing for the glow and struipped off the heavily cracked and falling apart dash pad.
