Re: Any help with a bad exhaust smell problem
Well, I took her out tonight for a 22 mi round-trip drive to help a buddy move some stuff to a new apartment and in the words of the great sage and prophet Borat...
I didn't smell like gas or exhaust and I was able to drive it without feeling sick or like I was going to pass out. There's still a bit of an exhaust leak, but I had the windows up the whole time. (As an aside, the heater is INSANELY efficient - like a blast furnace) There is a bit of a smell that's lingering on me and my clothes and it's hard to describe other than just "old truck smell." It's possible that years of abuse just imbedded so much exhaust and other stink in the seat foam and cover that it's there for good. I dunno, but at least it seems like for the time being, I have a truck that can move on its own power for more than a few blocks. The only bad thing that happened tonight was that I had a headlight bulb burn out just as I was pulling out of the garage. That little trick didn't exactly fill my heart with confidence, but I made it home. Maybe in the coming weeks I'll get motivated to see about that exhaust leak, and after that checking the size of the jets and rods in the carb to see if they're the right size. In the meantime, I'm just going to try to enjoy having a running truck. (Fingers crossed!) Posted via Mobile Device |
