Another diff thread

Hello all,

I have a '73 C10 with a 327 and 3 speed turbo 400 (not sure of exact one). I was trying to check my rear end for codes or stamps and I couldn't find anything on it. It is a 12-bolt 5-lug setup with very low gears, my brother said 3.08 or below. Basically I wanted to know if it would be wise to go the route of trying to find a 12-bolt 5-lug rear end in the junk yard or simply get a eaton posi kit with the 3.73 gears.

I want a 3.73 setup in the back because I will be doing very little highway driving, and in the future, I will eventually upgrade my transmission to a 4 or 5 speed, if possible.

If I went the rout of picking up a posi and 3.73 kit, what would(or should) a shop normally charge to install the parts?

Also, would it be wise to get power brakes installed at the same time by the shop? I recently changed the master cylinder and bled all of the brakes, but I have not driven the truck yet as I would like to get tires as well as the rear end done.

I am sorry if this, which it has, been posted numerous times.
