Part name question - brake booster->pedal

I'm trying to convert to power brakes by adding a brake booster.

This is the booster/input i have to work with:

The brake push rod i have on my master cylinder is similar to this:

I pulled the rod out once when replacing the master cylinder. To my knowledge, i do not believe it has any thread or screws. I thought it was just a long piece of metal that had a rubber washer at the end to hold it in place.

my question is - does that part have a specific name, and can anyone recommend places i might be able to acquire different shaped ones that can receive threading so i can cut/adapt it to my purpose to connect it to my pedal? Or is just randomly checking hte junk yard going to be my best bet?

hopefully i worded that clear enough.
