Re: Television Show, Fast N' Loud featuring a 59' SWB in thier latest episode
I think Sonoma10714 is trying to say that those guys are exactly as advertised. They don't claim to be building high-end restos. Any claim of fraud or the whole "they make real enthusiasts look bad" are questionable in and of themselves. I mean, I've seen all kinds at the shows and on cruise nights, so I can't seem to define a real enthusiast least of all by what they look like. I think the appeal of a show like that is that 99.9% of us don't have 40-60k to pour into our cars. Heck, I lost my job and that completely put a halt to my '59 project. Even then, I plan on spending only about 3-5k on a quick, 2-3 month frame-off. There's a disconnect with show cars because most of us want a nice daily driver or weekend warrior. That's the type of car those guys build, and people will pay $$$ just to not have to do the work themselves. I like saving the $$ and knowing exactly what was done to my stuff. We also don't know what's going on when the cameras aren't rolling and what's edited out. I just like that those guys seem to be not overly serious or snobby. It takes all kinds, and we've all seen our fair share of hacks. Here in Lubbock, I've heard people trash Hills Hot Rods, but it always seems like they're smack-talk is borne of envy. I guess it's to each their own.
