lower ball joint install question

I am putting the correct ball joint on finally (see picture)


And noticed that there is a lip on the ball joint on the right that does not seem to be there on the left one.

I am getting ready to press it in with a rented press and was wondering what to do about that. If I just mash it in won't that get cut off? It does not seem to come off just by trying to push it up the bolt.
