Rochester Quadrajet Kits - What's best?
I am preparing to have my carburetor rebuilt again. Last time I did not know enough about them and what was available as far as kits concern. That was four years ago. I have learned that it helps to know which model carb I have. It's an '86 Chevy C20 with SBC 350, VIN code M with a TH400 transmission.
Engine trouble symptoms started about 4 months ago - 1st loosing power, rough idle and missing or hesitating while driving. Then it would also shift erratically. Since then, the truck has been serviced and found bad plugs and timing was off. The truck now runs stronger and smoother, yet it is popping with some backfire issues and "rich". Next week I plan to consult with my mechanic friend about rebuilding the carb and start working his way down to make it satisfactory. I have looked into a number of kits and wondered which one to buy. Has anyone have experience with one from Cliff Ruggles or Mike's Carburetor parts? How about one from Summit, Napa, Advance Auto, etc.?
