Door issues

I'm working on replacing the rockers on a 64. So i pulled the drivers side door off. I went to reinstall it when the bolt plate dropped.. i can cut the inner panel to get to the plate back on my question is what keeps the plate from falling. I could tack it in place but then i would not have any adjustment. I would appreciate any help i can get.

By the way this is my first post... I am not sure if i should have done an intro... So here it goes. I am a visitor for the land of the HAMB.. I mainly build hot rods but found a deal on a 64 so i picked it up for my offspring as her first car. She is 14 so i have a couple of years to work on it.. Mainly fix the **** i screw up on it.... My other cars are 1932 ford roadster and 1923 ford touring.. And I am a scorpio and I believe in unicorns.

Thanks
Willie
