NP 205 or NP 241?

I've searched, and I'll admit to being a little confused by what I've found so far.

My 72 Blazer is getting a generous donor vehicle; I'm taking the 350 TBI and 700R4, along with all the associated parts. The donor vehicle is an 89 and has a NP 241 transfer case; the 72 has the NP 205. I think I'd like to keep the 205, but I understand I will need to either change the trans output shaft or buy an adapter (or both?) and the engine needs to go forward a few inches (no problem there). I've heard that the NP 241 would bolt right up without mods, but I'm not sure about that, and I've heard it's not as solid as the NP 205.

I plan to freshen up the 700R4 before I install it, but not sure what I need to do (the donor is a running vehicle) but any advice or opinions, especially by people who have done the swap, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a ton!
