POR15 vs Rustoleum??
I'm starting to take my 71 apart now for a driver restoration. My frame is solid, but has a lot of surface rust and minor scale. A wire wheel on a 4" grinder cleans it up pretty good. I really don't have the time or extra funds to strip the frame 100% and have it sand blasted, again it's just going to be a driver.
I would like to preserve what is there the best i can though, so my question is, what's the best option? My plan would be to wire wheel all the open areas and use a small hand held blaster for the tight areas. I've read mixxed reviews on POR15, some love it, some hate it. What are your thoughts, does it hold up and stop the rust? I would also add a top coat to it to prevent the UV fading. I've had good luck with Rustoleum paints in the past as well. Cleaning the metal with a wire wheel, then using the rusty metal primer and add a top coat. I'll be doing the same thing to the underside of the bed as well. Thanks
