Cheap map light

I have been real sick of not having a dome light. I have been looking for a good one in the junk yards, but so far, no luck. But I found this in a GMC van, and I figured I could make it work:

Right off, I ran into something odd-the wire coming to the original, broken dome light is always hot. I thought these were switched at the light switch? At any rate, that worked out better for me. This new light runs on two separate wires, one for the dome and one for the maps, with it being grounded to the body. Since the original wire was always hot, I soldered it to maps circuit and mounted it with a couple of self-tapper screws:

I need to make a gasket, since it don't quite fit right. I've used cheap mouse pads for this before, so I'll pick one up next time I'm at wally world. I think I paid $5 for the light. It'll be nice having an interior light finally.
