Smells like gas!!

New guy here. Just got my 72' chevy c10 yesterday. Drove it around all yesterday and the smell of gas was pretty intense. My buddies(c10 owners) and I looked at it and it seems the sender on the gas tank was not sealed all the way. We put some cable ties on the tubes that were kind of loose and I believe we sealed the tank properly. Just wanted to run this by you guys.

Thankfully I'm not a big smoker but I believe I was high on gas fumes all day yesterday, haha. I'm keeping the windows open for a couple days and I think the smell has subsided a little.

Anyone have experience with gas leaks? Or similar issues? I'd love some feedback. Thanks!!
