Brake Booster or no Brake Booster?

I am trying to decide on whether to use a Brake booster when I convert the front to disc brakes. I have heard it just makes it easier to push the pedal, but does not help it stop any better. My question is, is it necessary? Pro/cons? etc. I have searched around and didn't really find anything.

Any advice would be appreciated.
