starter problems...please save mepr some nerves

I bought a brand new starter because the truck started hard....before I got the new starter the truck turned over and when I went to move it it turned over twice then nothing,not even turning over,so I got the new one on and still it won't turn over....the only thing I do know is that there is power to the small terminal on the starter,the big terminal looks like a ground wire to me but I'm not sure.....can anyone help?
