350 points set-up
I have a 72 350 with what I think is the original distributor. I got the stuff(cap, rotor, points, wires and Bosch Platnums) last fall to do a tune-up for it but didn't start on it until a few weeks ago. I took the points out and ran out of time so I decided to finish it later. During the week or so that went by, I somehow lost the old points.....no big deal. I got the new ones and put them in. They don't work. They fit too tight to adjust. Once they are put into place they can't be moved to adjust. I went back to NAPA to get another set, not telling them that I got a set from them that didn't fit. I get home and open the box and these look nothing like the ones that I got fro them last fall....no condenser. I still can't find the original points that I took out of the truck and don't remember exactly what they look like but I do believe they are supposed to have a condenser......right?
Was there more than one set up for points on these motors? I have decided not to mess with it anymore. I'm gunna order an HEI set-up from Summit in the morning. Any suggestions on what to buy. I don't want to mess with one from a bone yard. I wanna new one. Thanks ------------------
