RIP MSD 2 coil. Question

So after cleaning and dressing up the old 250 I decided to go for a cruise. I go to start her and being the cold blooded beast that she is it cranked up and dies, no biggie....... or so I thought.
She just turnd would over .Oh crap what the heck ?Am I out of gas? Nope.
Check the coil no spark ! Now I have a pertronix ignition with a MSD blaster 2coil with ballast resistor, jump the resistor still nothing. Great!
My next door nighbor Fernando comes over to see what was going on. "What's wrong with your truck? It uasualy starts right up " ( he cracks up becuse his dog hates my truck's galss packs)
I tell him I think its the coil and he comes back with a new Accel coil" Here I was going to toss it"
Install it and she roars to life, sending his dog running.
Took Fernando for a little ride and stoped off at Jacks Liquors to pick up some cold Rolling Rock.
I get back in the truck try to start it and nothing !!! What the*&%? Fernado is sitting there cracking up and holding the coil wire !!
He puts it back in and she fires right up. Get home park it and crack open a cold one
So ( yes there is a question ) what may have cauesd the coil to give up the ghost?
