Question Detroit Lockers???

Just looking for some feedback here.

I read an interesting article in one of my 4x4 magazines last night. I drive a 2wd, so often the articles don't apply, but in this article they were talking about upgrading a Jeep rear-end to a Dana 35 (I think) Detroit Locker with beefier axles for off-roading.

Now, I don't really go off road with my 2wd (I know Prerunner1982 does), but I've often thought of upgrading from my limited slip 12 bolt to a locker set-up - for increased winter traction, etc.

Has anyone out there done this? Is it expensive? I don't imagine it'll be a project right away, but I wouldn't mind getting some ideas to start chewing on.

Thanks for the input.
