How can you tell if used stock rims are good?

What should you look out for when buying used stock rims? I looked for a rim/tire thread and couldn't find one, if there is please re-direct me.
I know things like obvious dents on the edges and massive rust are factors but what about them being trued? Is there a way to test the rims for that not having to take them to a tire shop? Thanks.
