Another 292 Power Steering Thread

Hey every body, i have lurked here off and on for a while now.
Picked up a 66 short step side no engine or trans and set about patching rust...
Hopefully there will be images here...

Looking for parts i found this long fleet and its a driver

I know what your thinking... i thought there was a damn power steering question? Well i would like to drive this a bit but want to put power steering on it. Yep, so its a 292, i bought the whole power steering and HEI ignition off of a 73 truck yesterday! Everything i read says the 292 brackets are very rare, BUT these 292 brackets won't work on my 292 They came off of a 73 292 yes im sure it's a 292 due to the 6" tall block side covers. Well I guess they changed the thermostat housing and water pump at some point in the 292 production to eliminate the cursed bypass hose that makes the bracket so rare. SO i guess that not only is the 250 different than the 292 due to height but a 292 is not just a 292. The 292 bracket i have wont clear that hose

So my question for anybody that knows, can i change the water pump and thermostat housing to the new style and use these 73 brackets??? Do i just have to fab my own brackets???
Thanks guys, lots of great truck/info and inspiration here!
Always wanted a 66 stepside, never would have tackled one without this site!
