Question 4l80 advice for shift linkage

First time asking for help. Ok have Bbc mounted in front frame rail holes attached to 4l80e. Need help with shift linkage converting from 6cyl 3 speed so do not have stock linkage to work with. Will lokar shift rod work. Would like to use rod over cable for price and solid fell. Want to order but don't want to buy something that's not going to work. Saw one thread saying it worked fine and another saying to short what to do.
Any advice and help would be appreciated. Thanks.
