Insurance only wants to replace one leaf spring...

Ok guys.. I need some help. My 6 year old daily driver (Full size 1/2 ton 4wd truck) was in an accident recently. The right rear spring was damaged and the insurance company only want to replace the damaged side. I let them know that I was concerned about the safety and performance issues with having a new and old leaf spring on the rear of the truck. The problem is I can't find any "official" way to backup my claim that it is substandard work.

I decided to post this here as it may relate to the trucks we all love, drive, and discuss on this site. I imagine that this information will be useful to others as well.

What do you think, how should I handle this?
