update on electrolysis
Some of you may remember that I was going to try to save my co-workers behind for the second year in a row. He shoots his Blackpowder and never cleans it. The breach plug becomes one with the barrel.
I used Arm and Hammer Washing Soda like the instructions stated. Filled a 5 gallon bucket half full. and cut a piece of stainless screen about 10 inches wide and 20 inches long. I rolled the screen to form a tube and placed it in the solution adding the positive cable. As the process works line of site, this gave me 360 degrees. I used a board with a hole to keep the barrel upright and clipped on the negative clamp. Fired up the battery charger and watched it boil. Left it on for about 8 hours and took the barrel to work the next morning. Chucked it in the lathe, used an easy-out and the plug came out. Pretty slick. Chased the threads and gave it back to him for the last time. Next time I keep the gun. I am going to set the solution aside and try it later on some truck parts. Just need to find some 30 year old rusty parts. Anyone know where to find some?
