Well I rechecked everything and still not a peep out of the engine.
Started thinking of when I first timed it with the hei I had to rotate all the spark plug wires. Rotated them one spot counter clockwise now and it fired right up. Prior to this the rotor was pointed right at #1 spark plug and at #1 wire. Anyway detonation has stopped. My HEI weights were 60 and 469.
