vent window rebuild

I installed a fairchild vent window kit with less than satisfactory results. Though the gasket fit well and seems to have some quality the division bar is a different story. It was way thicker than the oem division bar I removed and as a result the wing window won't shut.
Has anyone purchased the divsion bars that steele rubber sell. They're expensive and I don't want to buy with the same results as the fairchild bars. I might be forced to reinstall the stock ones. Anyones input with similar problems would be appriciated.
