Opinions please!

Guys,
I had a 2002 Chevrolet fully loaded LT Z71 Shortbed Ex. cab 4x4 that had a $500.00 a month + insurance payment that was as comfy driving as the living room couch...it's gone and so is the payment, Hurray!!! In it's place a bought a 72 AC SWB K-10 4x4 that is mechanically sound. I am in the doing the cosmetic restore/paint change while using it as my daily driver. I have come to the conclusion that to do the resto correct, which I intend on doing, I need another vehicle while I take the 72 apart for painting and frame powder coating. So.....another 67-72 truck needs to be purchased. I want a 2wd SWB to drive while I restore the 72' K-10. The front end of a 68' really is the look I am after for the 2wd. Question is : Is it more cost effective to buy a 68' and do the PDB, PS conversion or buy a 71' or 72' that already had PDB, PS and do the 68' front clip conversion.
Thanks
