Sway bar on a Lowered Truck

My truck did not come with a sway bar.I got one from the junk yard but was unable to remove the frame brackets. I have a 4.5 inch drop. Can I just attach the bushings directly to the frame? Might I need a lowered bracket?
Any pictures of what the bar looks like at the control arms would be helpful so I can see how it is supposed to look.
