Heater Core Swap 1961 Apache
After 7 months, several hundred hours and many false starts, I finally got the L48 350 running. New MSD ignition, Street Avenger Carb from Holley and new intake manifold. Pretty much everything on this engine is new...
So...I fire it up, seal all the leaks for fuel lines, water lines etc...and I think I'm home free. Then I look down at my feet, there is this stream of coolant running across the garage floor out down the drive. So, I shut everything down and look inside the cab to see a fresh rush of coolant raining out of the heater core. Now, I'm not surprised too much (it was the original heater core and hadn't been used in 20 years) and honestly the rust that had been falling out gave me room for pause anyway. Can anyone here give me a link to swapping out the standard heater core in a 61 Chevy. It looks like a few bolts around the box, maybe a couple of larger bolts holding it in place...any secrets to switching this out? (I ordered a new one from LMC for $69 and it should be here by Friday...Fresno CA time! Thank you...
