Shake down run!

Hey all,

Took the 50 3/4 ton out on a permit before rego inspection. First time out on the road!!

All went well although sloppy in the front end. The springs are shot for sure and in fact after having another look one of the front shackles is bent. The race is on tomorrow to find a new set before the rego inspection booked for Friday arvo.

Don't like my chances but I'll have a crack.

The other issue that presented was that the engine (307 SBC), after a good run, started dieseling (run on after I turned it off).

I've been trying to figure out why and its never done it before with the short running I've down around the yard and in the shop.

I notice that the hose is missing on the vacuum advance unit and thought this could be throwing the timing out???

Or, maybe there is carbon build up or old gummed up plugs.

The other option I thought of might be that I'm running premium unleaded fuel and I should be adding lead replacement fluid to assist??

Any ideas or should I look at the above?

Was a sensational 10km run even with these new issues presenting by the way!!
