kickdown cable trouble

I need some help with this. The truck I just bought had the kickdown cable just sitting there. Its a 81 Chevy SWB w/ a 305HO and a TH350 trans. It's almost all original with low miles. The problem is that it had the wrong carb on it and I think that the last owner was trying to hookup the cable like it shows in the pic I have posted. The problem is that the cable is at the bottom of the bracket and the post it is to be mounted on is at the top of the lever which puts it at a bad angle. All the other trucks I have seen show it to be mounted at the bottom of the lever including my other truck (but I'm running an edelbrock). I am posting another pic also that I found on here from somebody else's post. It shows the cable hooked up the way I have it on my other truck, so the kickdown works opposite the throttle. Thanks
