air system lift speed 1/2 inch vs 1/4 inch

I have a 68 c10 that currently uses 1/2 airline and 3/8 electric valves.
My problem with the 1/2 line is routing issues and the speed it lifts the back up. I know I can get flow controls to slow the rate it lifts the rear but was thinkig I could just replace the fitting and run 1/4 inch line which in turn would solve my routing/ rubbing issues as well as slow down the lift speed. My question is if I use 1/4 on all four corners will it be so slow I will hate it. Also I need check valves before my valves where is the best spot to purchase them. I believe my 3/8 air valves take a 1/2 inch fitting. Thanks in advance.
