Update on my truck...WOO HOO!
Ever since I put the new (Read: CORRECT) distributor in last week, it has been running like a champ!
The other day, I switched the advance springs around, to a set of aftermarket crane ones, that allow full 34º advanced timing to come in at 2800rpm. It also says to bump up base timing 2º past factory setting. (So I bumped it up to 8º.) So then today, I went out to set my carb again. So, I warmed it up, while also setting the electric choke to bump up to 1500rpm. Then, once warm, I checked my float levels...BOTH were a touch too high, so I brought them both down to correct specs. (Where the fuel was JUST at the sight plug level, without spilling out.) Then, popped the plugs back in, and set the idle and idle air mixture screws. Then took it out for a ride... Welllllll, seems like I did SOMETHING right! Because on my narrow-band O² Sensor, it showed that I was at a perfect 840mv! YAY! Next, is tackling the job of the oil leak. (Which will be done by the shop that built the motor, for free under the warranty.) So, I'm a happy camper right now! |
