Fuel sending unit disconnect. Need some help here

All,

I am trying to replace the sending unit in my in cab tank. The truck is a 69. I cannot seem to loosen the fittings on the gas line. Anything I am doing wrong. How do I get the damn unit out if I cannot but the fuel line free from the unit itself?
