Who's in the market for a 100% turnkey 383 Stroker? These guys are awesome!
If you're looking for a good engine builder with great customer service, I would highly recommend United Racing Engines (URE). I installed a 383 Stroker engine package into my 69 C20 after doing quite a bit of research. They provide a 3-yr/100,000 mile warranty and will build your engine just like you want.
At first I was somewhat nervous about dealing with them. They are out of Phoenix, AZ and I'm in Buffalo, NY. Quite a bit of distance between us. Over the course of the order and build, I found out that their customer service and commitment to satisfying their customers is their top priority. They absolutely do not want one bad word out there about their company. They have an "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau. After receiving and installing my engine I had a noise that I just could not identify. It was a sound only noticeable under load. I questioned people on this forum and worked with the people at URE. I had no success it determining the source of the noise, so URE told me to send the engine back. They arranged all the shipping with specialty crate and trucking. They tore down the engine and QC'd it, but couldn't find anything substantial. They decided to upgrade my pistons and crankshaft and totally rebuilt the engine, and returned it, at no cost to me. I re-installed the engine and found that it had the same noise. After searching and looking for months, I was finally able to find out that the sound had nothing to do with the engine. It was a clearance issue between my flex plate and pinion gear on the starter. Boy did I feel like a schmuck. Through all of this URE was there to help me troubleshoot the issue and work with me to bring this to closure. Their customer service is second to none and highly recommended in my book. If you need to talk to them ask for Lee Carson or Mike Rinehart. Lee would be the main contact person, as Mike is the General Manager. If you want to mention my build, it's number 8995. Tell them Dan sent you from this forum. I have no personal gain in this. I just want to pass along a positive experience to my fellow members. Good luck. United Racing Engines 7402 W.
