Looking for a "quiet" muffler.
I realize that quiet is relative. I just finished my engine in my truck and man it's louder than ever! I love the sound at idle it just growls but apply any throttle at all and you are pissing people off and going to slowly go deaf.
As for the entire current setup. A mild built 383, Flowtech mid length headers, Custom built Y pipe 2.5 inch pipe to a stamped stainless steel Y section, 3 inch pipe to a single inlet single chambered Flowmaster knock off muffler, Then a 2.5 inch very short tailpipe section that exits to a dual oval tip. I am looking for something with a 3 inch inlet and outlet. I plan on changing out the tailpipe section to match the rest of the exhaust. Needs to flow well and tone it down a few decibels. I drive this truck everyday and while I love it loud I have to listen to the responsible part in me that says "hey you gotta drop your kid off at school in this thing". So with all that said what's going to be quiet and still flow well. It doesn't have to be stock quiet just not dragster loud. I took a decibel meter out there and it idles at 70-72db and will hit 90db just revving it up to about 2500rpm in park. So yeah it's loud. Driving windows up it's around 65db in the cab and will still reach near 80db when you lightly accelerate!
