1994 4x4 Suburban Trans in a 1985 GMC?
Hello all! Happy to have joined.
Stayed up till 4AM last night envying other SWB truck owners that are so far along on their rebuild project. Hopefully someone can help. I foolishly sold my engine and transmission, that was in my truck, thinking the motor was a 305. I noticed it was a 350 after the guy pulled it and loaded it in his truck, and already paid me for the set. I also noticed that the transmission was a long tail. I had already planned on putting my 350 and transmission from my 1994 K1500 4x4 suburban in the truck. Less miles on motor! Rebuilt transmission about 2 years ago. 1) Will the transmission from my suburban work since I read it is controlled by the computer? 2) Is it the same size as the transmission that came out of the truck? (Length wise.) It is the stock transmission that came in my suburban. 3) All I have to do is change the intake manifold and put a carb on the 350 for it to work in the 85, right? I do not want the TBI and the 500 sensors that comes with it. Thanks in advance guys! I really need to know. If the transmission will not work, I am going to part the burban out and take that money to build a 383 and get another transmission.
