New Guy!

hi there, im twisty. my son bought a 72 C10 LB pick up, hes not much on forums. i am, lots of great info here to read up on! his truck is a definite project, no interior to speak of and the wiring is chopped up something fierce. got a decent deal, and a lot of extras with it. right now it is sitting with a 250 i6 with a 3 spd trans (on the floor, looks converted) in it. the big issue at the moment is the dana 60 rear end that the guuy slapped on it to make it roll onto the trailer. no spids i can find onit, so idont know the gearing yet. its also a leaf spring rear end, so its all cockeyed. i havent decided if we will convert to leafs, mod the d60 for coils or source a 1/2ton 5 or 6 lug for it yet. im leaning towards getting a new one for now and getting the d60 set up for future use when we get some power under the hood. along with a few boxes of brand new gaskets/ trim pieces and some old original parts that fit thetruck, we also got a 91 vortec 350 that needs a rebuild and a th400 trans that supposedly works great. oh, and a 91 steering column and all the a/c venting out of a 3500 club cab. i really like that the bed is the wood bed, not the steel one. especially when we have to move it around.

bringing her home. my dodge is tired, didnt like that tow at all.

in the driveway.

after a few days of him tinkering with it. he put the grill and such on the front, cleaned her up and we put the bed in the back yard for a while.

hes been out there every night since we got it home. so far ive gotten the engine turned over to make sure its free, checked the ignition system as well as changed fluids and got it ready to start. the PO cut the fuel lines at the pump, so ill have to redo all that. the oem tank is gone, but the PO gave us the brand new frame tank he intended on using. i guess thats the next project. no keys, so i ripped the sucker apart and made it work with any key. im installing a series of solenoids and a hidden switch to start it anyway, these are too easy to hotwire with the stock wiring.

a bit about us, my son is 16 and starts a vo-tech automotive tech school next week. half day in HS, half at vo-tech. two year plan, should be able to get his certs at graduation if he wants to. he is a true gear head, ive had him helping me with cars since he was younger. most of his knowledge is in imports so far tho.

my first car i bought was a 73 dodge coronet (383) when i was 14. never got the title for it, but friends and i had a great time getting it running and terrorizing the streets between 1 and 4am. 70 maverick after that. 80 datsun 210 fastback station wagon after that. 71 cougar, chevette, 61 scout, 76 impala, 80 cadillac, 96 suburban, 79 silverado step side, and many other vehicles over the years. currently i have a civic i gave my oldest girl, an 01 dodge 1500, 95 subaru L wagon, 96 subaru legacy GT sedan and a f150 work truck. oh, and my old 79 CB750 honda that ive had since back in 89. i love working on cars, so much that i even give free labor to my best friend who owns a custom shop here in the east valley. at the moment we are doing a zz4 swap in a 72 camaro for one of his customers. at the same time im helping them with an isuzu amigo motor rebuild. of course my son is over there probably more than i am, but he gets paid for the work he does over there.

in real life im an industrial programmer for municipal water/ waste water systems, as well as a hobbyist electrician. should be fun. glad to meet yall.
