Frame painting/coating options - What did you use on your frame

I am beginning to clean the frame and i started by using a twist knot wire wheel on an angle grinder, stripping all the old stuff off completely...I havent done a ton of it yet. I was planning on using POR 15. Ive heard POR doesnt actually stick well to smooth surfaces even when you use the marine clean and metal ready. I was planning on top coating it also which means i have to use the tie coat primer i guess, then the top coat...3 coats of this ****? sheesh...then i still have to buy the metal ready and marine clean for it too..maybe there is a more economical alternative product that i dont know of

Alot of people say it works fine..on smooth surfaces, i dont know. Anyways im just wondering what you all have used and what your results were. Im not going to be spraying any coating on, unless there is a good rattle can product. It will be something brushed on...let me know, thanks
