Re: 383 Build
I recently finished a 383 for my street truck. I can say that anything over 10 to 1 is a hassel on pump gas and Iron heads. mine is 10.2 to 1 and with out spicing 93 octane I get detonation at 6600 rpm unless i back my timing down to 33 or 34 degrees advance then she feels sluggish down low. I am using a much more efficient head then Vortec heads as well.
My engine specs are as follows. Typical 383 4.030 3.75 stroke. Probe SRS 2 valve relief flat tops with -4cc reliefs set .005 in the hole with Steelfire rings. Scat rotating assembly. RHS Pro Action 220cc heads with 72cc chambers. Cometic MLS head gaskets that compress to .040. Holley Strip Dominator intake. Mighty Demon 750. Comp cams xr286r solid roller. 248 exhaust 254 intake @.050 on a 110LSA and .585 .591 with 1.52 pro magnum rockers. Mallory VI al cd box and promaster coil with a Mallory Unilite distributor. |
