Auto trans shift lever lube - need insight
The shift lever for my 1972 C30 T400 will not go into "Park" after having been stored for a while. I have checked all parts of the linkage/mechanism down to and including the pawl inside the pan - all are free and it will shift into park at the transmission.
I have been told that this problem can be caused by hardened grease/lube somewhere down in the shift lever shaft (along the steering column?). Anyone exprerience this - and can you explain is the best way to free-up such a condition? Thanks for any info.
