Opportunity caused by leaking gas

Hey All,
So after my new gas sending unit failed and dumped gas on my carpet, I have a fork in the road. I pulled the seat and carpet. So the opportunity I have is cleaning up the floorboard. First, any suggestions on an adhesive remover? Secondly, suggestions on what I can roll on the floorboard after I get the carpet adhesive off? There's no rust but I was thinking of a lizard skin or something else I can get at Home Depot or LPS and roll on.
