HELP! 72 C-10, TH350 not engaging at all

:Chevy:Well after purchasing a brand new re-manned carb. and installing it, my old Heavy Chevy fired up, purred like a kitten too. she smoked for a bit , but it's to be expected after 21 years of sitting in a field. My smile faded fast tho when i went to drive it. i put her in reverse... and nothing, tried drive... nothing. has me boggled. when i purchased the truck from the original first own er i was given a folder with paperwork, receipts, etc etc...Amongst them was a receipt/paper for the trans rebuild, in 1990. the mileage written is only 5,600 prior to now. The owner told me about the rebuild as-well and said it was right before he parked it. Any tips from anyone, I am a body man, not a tranny man, I don't know, could a valve body be stuck, linkage not right, hose or vacuum broke or un hooked...? The fluid looks fine, right color and smell. I added a half bottle of Lucas trans fluid, as I've had great luck with it in the past on a 700R4. Actually avoided a rebuild, and got another almost 30,000 miles out of it. Is there ant way to check if any thing is stuck or to determine if it's just shot? If it is done for, suggestions for a better replacement with overdrive to improve fuel mileage, but yet still be good for light duty towing? It is to be my everyday driver
