would you do a heater delete in Indiana?

I've searched a couple ways with no real answers ......So I'm not building a daily driver, just bringing an old truck back to life. Thinking about taking out the heater box out and cleaning up the firewall. I live in Indiana and am wondering if you think that's a good idea considering the weird weather we have here. I worry about the defrosters the most. Anybody done this and wish they hadn't?
